Interview: Keap Candles

We love Keap for making candles better. They use the purest, most sustainable materials possible, at a fair price—and each candle bought supports the distribution of solar lamps to communities in need. Their candles are poured with sustainable coconut wax with master perfumer scents in Brooklyn, NY.

Keap was founded by two Brooklyn roommates who wanted to come home to soothing scents at the end of hectic New York days as Google employees. They couldn’t find any scented candles that were affordable, beautiful, non-toxic and high quality. So, they made their own. We chatted with Steve Tracy, one of the co-founders, about what makes their candles better than other luxury candles on the market.

What sparked the idea for Keap?

“We wanted to find out what was in our favorite candles and why they cost as much as they did. The more we learned the more we saw that ‘luxury’ candles weren’t made with much care at all; that was our spark to start Keap to make better candles.”

What makes your brand the best in the game?

“Better candles means both making a better product while being a better company. We have the best possible scents and great design—we work with a world-renowned master perfumer and keep our design timeless and elegant. We are also pioneering on sustainability and impact in the industry—we pour our candles using coconut wax, recently became a B corp, and partner closely with SolarAid to share access to sustainable light.”
